Mind & Mobility

THRIVE PROGRAM

COMPANY MESSAGE

When our clients choose to trust Mind & Mobility with their in-home care needs, they are not merely signing up for personal care assistance and supervision so that they are safe and supported as they age. There are many agencies and facilities that can provide that. They are choosing Mind & Mobility to provide safety and support so they can THRIVE in their own home. They are choosing our team of caregivers to support and engage with them so their life continues to be filled with purpose, meaningful relationships, and happiness. Why Mind & Mobility is different is our caregiver’s mindset and programmatic approach. If you take away all decisions and all physical difficulties from the client, that’s not CARE-GIVING, that’s CARE-TAKING. If you take away all obstacles from someone, you progressively take away their ability to overcome those obstacles. The Mind & Mobility team provides supportive activities, for both the mind and body, that maintains the tools the clients need to continue to lead the purposeful and joyful life they choose. Our compassionate enthusiasm and care towards meeting this mission of helping seniors thrive in their home is why our clients choose Mind & Mobility and is why we all do what we do.

Thrive-Program

THRIVE PROGRAM has 3 interconnected components:
Mind, Mobility, Engagement

MIND: Brain fitness is most simply defined as the state of brain health and mental well-being that allows you to engage with life in an efficient and positive manner. Our THRIVE program includes Brain Fitness activities that can help improve various cognitive functions that are needed to remain independent and autonomous. These activities stimulate neural connections, promote neuroplasticity, and may delay the onset of age-related cognitive decline. Additionally, they can enhance mood, reduce the risk of depression and anxiety, and improve overall emotional well-being.

Mind and Mobility utilizes various activities to ensure all of these areas of the brain are being addressed as part of our in-home care.

  • Memory Training: This involves exercises and techniques to improve recall and retention of information. Guided reminiscing is a great example of recall training.
  • Attention and Focus Exercises: The aim is to enhance concentration and mental sharpness.
  • Problem-Solving and Reasoning Tasks: Challenge the brain to think critically and analytically.
  • Language and Communication Activities: These activities focus on improving verbal fluency, comprehension, and writing skills.
  • Executive Function Training: involves activities to enhance planning, organization, and decision-making abilities.
  • Physical Exercise: these activities contribute to brain health by improving blood flow and reducing inflammation
  • Learning New Skills or Hobbies: Learning something new stimulates brain activity and encourages neuroplasticity.
  • Meditation and Mindfulness Practices: These activities assist to reduce stress and enhance focus
  • Social Engagement and Interaction: This decreases anxiety and depression

MOBILITY: The term mobility is defined as your ability to move purposefully as you go through your day. It is composed of all of the skills required for everyday living; physical stamina, strength, balance, coordination, and range of motion. As part of our THRIVE PROGRAM, our caregivers ensure that we are addressing these components during every visit via Mobility training. Without taxing these skills, the body’s ability to remain mobile and engage with the community and everyday life becomes progressively more difficult.

This can be completed in a variety of ways that are tailored to each client;

  • Recorded and live Mobility classes
  • Walking programs
  • Guided / assisted functional ROM activities
  • Supported balance activities
  • Coordination activities
  • Grip strengthening and dexterity exercises

ENGAGEMENT: As we age, physical and cognitive barriers develop that can limit how one engages with the community and plans out their own day. If these barriers are not addressed early on, they will progress. Reduced community involvement and autonomy can lead to depression and overall poor quality of life. Mind and Mobility and our THRIVE mentality is the way in which our caregivers and our team encourage as much physical, social, and emotional engagement not only with our specific guided Mind and Mobility activities, but throughout the day during their care. Our client guides the day, our team supports them as they overcome these barriers. Our THRIVE PROGRAM provides the tools that allow our clients to remain at home living a safe and purposeful life.
